The camp which usually happens at CEPT University, was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The workshop allowed students and professionals to participate and interact with each other to learn about resources, tools, news, and updates enabling them to build energy efficient and thermally comfortable buildings. IIEC utilized this platform to disseminate knowledge regarding the active renewable energy design which can be incorporated in buildings in two parts.

In the first part, the presentation highlighted the three important sources of renewable energy in order to generate electricity which are solar, wind and biomass. The team further briefly informed the participants regarding the sources of renewable energy. Along with this, the team shared some real life examples to display the implementation of the systems.

In the second part of the presentation, wind energy technologies were discussed along with biomass resources. Not only this, the team also discussed the financial viability of these technologies to check whether they are cost effective for building owners or occupants.

Highlights of the workshop were:

  • Thumb rules for solar PV and Biomethanation
  • Thumb rules for small wind and Biomass energy technologies
  • Case Studies Inferences
  • Discussion on the cost effectiveness of the projects for the owners and users
